Lilian Manansala is a Los Angeles-based video journalist, producer, and writer reporting on news, politics, business, culture, and the environment.
She currently works on the News and Documentary team at Business Insider. Accepted into the UP Mentorship program in 2024, she was mentored by New York Times Live Team Desk Editor Julie Bloom. In the fall, she joined the Gold House Journalism Accelerator's second-ever cohort.
She was a 2022 finalist for the L.A. Press Club Awards in the educational reporting category. The piece, "Getting Paid Less to Do the World’s Most Important Job," was published by the award-winning publication Capital Main as part of "The 50-100 Pay Gap," a series on income inequality in the US. She was a member of the first cohort of the Vox Media Writer's Workshop in Summer 2021 and one of 12 journalists chosen for the 2022 Data Institute sponsored by OpenNews, ProPublica, and the Ida B. Wells Society.
Her work as a choreographer and performer complements her work as a visual storyteller. A 2023 Emmy-nominated choreographer for her work on Disney Channel's Bunk'd, Lilian has worked on over 20 television shows.
She received her Master's in Journalism at New York University and an MSc in Epistemology, Ethics and Mind at the University of Edinburgh. Her research interests include social epistemology, applied ethics, political philosophy, social ontology, experimental philosophy, feminist philosophy, and the neuroscience of power and charisma.
